Tara Angell 'Freedom to Love'

Wow! Two weeks and no blog posts. Things have been pretty hectic around here to say the least. Hidden Target has been swamped with the unveiling of the new website and preparations for our first release 'Harmony Handgrenade' by the Oxygen Ponies. May 19th, 2009. You heard it here first!!

We've been listening to a bunch of new stuff lately. Some has grabbed me, some hasn't.

Check out The Wave Pictures latest "Instant Coffee Baby' if you want to hear a new band with heavy Violent Femmes, Jonathan Richman, and Hefner influences.
We dig it!!

I have a ton of video from the Bullseye Secret Birthday Bash which I'll probably milk and be unveiling to you throughout the year.

Here's the lovely Tara Angell, blessing us with an unannounced performance of her new song "Freedom to Love" with Kat Hayman, Randi Russo and an invisible Paul Megna from the Oxygen Ponies on backing vocals. We hope you love it as much as we do!!

Best local NYC records of 2008!

Happy New Year!

Before I list my favorite local NYC indie records of 2008, I wanted to give everybody something to think about for the new year.

Listen to your ears and your heart, not the opinions of others. If you like something and it moves you - then it's good. And if it doesn't, that's okay too. There is no right and wrong. But don't let yourself be swayed by public opinion and mediocrity. Let's shake things up a little.

Right now there are two kinds of people. Those that love MGMT and those that love VAMPIRE WEEKEND. Which are you?? I definitely fall into one of those categories, but not both. Those of you that are insisting 'both' need to get your heads examined. There is no both, there is only one or the other.

THE BEST LOCAL NYC INDIE RECORDS OF 2008!!
I'm sure I missed quite a few but these six records are certainly worth a purchase and should stay on your radar!

Black Bunny - S/T (x Thisway)
Kat - Oh, the Humanity
Dave Doobinin - The Birth of Wonder
Lowry - Love is Dead
Bedsit Poets - Rendezvous
Arizona - Glowing Bird (technically they've relocated to the Carolinas but they're all Brooklyn at heart!)
